What is Hop?

Hop is a native SSH terminal client for iPhone. It connects directly from your device to a server you control, giving you a real command-line shell in your pocket.

Is my password stored securely?

Yes. Your password is stored in the iOS Keychain, the same secure storage Apple uses for Safari passwords and other sensitive credentials. It's never stored in plain text and never leaves your device except as part of the encrypted SSH connection you initiate.

Does Hop send my data anywhere?

No. Hop has no backend server. When you connect, your device talks directly to the host you specify over SSH — nothing passes through Caritos or any third party. See the privacy policy for details.

Does Hop support SSH key authentication?

Not yet — the current version supports password authentication. SSH key support is on the roadmap.

Can I save more than one host?

Multiple saved hosts are planned for a future update. Right now Hop supports a single saved connection.

What iOS version does Hop require?

Hop requires iOS 17 or later.
